Martin Dean has been appointed Managing Director – Bus Development at the Go-Ahead Group. This is a newly created role which will report directly to the Group Chief Executive, Keith Ludeman. Martin will be based at the company’s Head Office.
As Managing Director – Bus Development, Martin will lead and act as a focus for all bus development activity throughout the Group, assist with the development of bus policy and strategy and provide additional Group resource for Go-Ahead’s bus companies.

Although Go-Ahead employs over 27,500 people throughout the UK it only employs around 50 people at Group level. Its resources are focused on delivery for its customers by its operating companies at a local level. Go-Ahead is committed to a philosophy of devolution and autonomy.
Martin Dean
Martin joins Go-Ahead from First Group where he was Business Development Director of the UK Bus Division (2006 to date), having previously been its Project Director/Commercial (1999-2003). More recently Martin was Director of Sales and Marketing at First Great Eastern/’One’ (2003-06) and Project Director for Light Transit at Transport for London (2003).
Martin has also worked before as a consultant at WS Atkins PLC (1993 – 1999) and for Surrey County Council as an Executive Officer (1990-1993). He started his transport career at a Graduate Trainee/Garage Manager at London Buses Limited (1985-1990).
