Renowned for its vibrancy, Brighton and Hove is located between the South Downs and the sea, making it one of the UK's most popular places to live and work, and drawing large numbers of visitors to the city. It is the largest city outside of London in the south-east.
As the city's major public transport provider, Brighton & Hove provides a service that has one of the highest levels of passenger satisfaction in the country. It also has the highest bus use per head of any English city outside of London and with car ownership per household decreasing over the last decade it is now the eighth highest local authority with households not owning a car. The company plays a full part in the social and economic life of the city being active in many citywide forums and partnerships. Its long standing partnership with Brighton and Hove's City Council and those of neighbouring areas are held up nationally as an example of best practice.
In recognition of the Company's high quality operations, it was awarded the prestigious UK Bus Operator of the Year at the 2010 UK Bus Awards and has received many awards over the last two decades.
Brighton & Hove has been successful at consistently growing the market for bus travel each year since 1993. It has been particularly active in marketing the comprehensive network of convenient and frequent bus services as well as its excellent value SAVER range of tickets which have been available on the key smartcard since 2012. Purchasers are increasingly being encouraged to buy on-line with the best value for money tickets.
Consistent investment in new buses has enabled the Company to keep at the forefront of new technology including Euro engines; clean air exhaust systems; comfort; GPS tracking and next stop displays and announcements.
Safety and security for Brighton & Hove is a top priority. The company was one of the first bus companies to fit its entire bus fleet with on-board CCTV cameras and works in partnership with Sussex Police under its Employer Supported Special Constable scheme whereby two bus company employee's work as Special Constables for part of their working week.
Brighton & Hove works closely with our rail company Southern and has teamed up with First Capital Connect to promote integrated bus and rail travel between London and Brighton through the PLUSBUS scheme as well as exclusive Southern SAVER and First Capital Connect SAVER tickets.
In 2012 it moved its popular travel shop into larger more centrally located premises in North Street, Brighton where information and ticket sales are available for all bus, coach and train journeys making for a unique proposition.
